Seraphim and the Angelic Ministry to God
Seraphim, mentioned only in Isaiah 6:1-3, are heavenly creatures with six wings, symbolizing their holiness as their name means “burning ones”. They are instruments of unceasing worship of God. Revelation 4:8 describes “living creatures” with six wings, likely seraphim, engaged in continuous worship. The full understanding of seraphim remains a mystery until we reach heaven.
The angelic host has a significant ministry, with over 270 references in the Bible. Their ministry to God includes worship (Psa. 148:1-2; Isa. 6:3; Rev. 4:8) and awe of God’s activities (1 Tim. 3:16). Their ministry to man pleases God and is primarily a ministry to Him. Hebrews 1:14 describes them as ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.
