Appreciating Spiritual Blessings through Doctrine
This module focuses on how understanding Bible doctrines leads to a deeper appreciation of the spiritual blessings believers have in Christ. It explains that many Christians fail to fully grasp the extent of God’s gifts due to a lack of knowledge of His Word. They live defeated lives because they have never learned all that they have in Christ. The module uses the analogy of someone not recognizing the value of their retirement checks to illustrate the importance of understanding the riches of one’s inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:18). Biblical theology teaches that believers are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3), and the study of doctrine helps to unpack and appreciate these blessings. Biblical theology examines how these spiritual blessings are revealed progressively through the covenants and promises of God throughout the biblical narrative.
The module also provides an overview of the nine categories into which Bible doctrines can be divided: Bibliology, Theology, Christology, Pneumatology, Anthropology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, Angelology, and Eschatology. This categorization provides a framework for systematic study and understanding of the breadth of biblical teaching. In biblical theology, these categories help to organize and explore the unfolding revelation of God and His plan throughout redemptive history.
