The Holy Spirit’s role evolved from temporarily empowering individuals in the Old Testament to permanently indwelling believers in the New Testament.

1. The Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Ministry

Conception of Jesus – “Mary was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:18)

Jesus’ Baptism – “The Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove.” (Luke 3:22)

Jesus’ Miracles – “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” (Luke 4:1)

2. The Holy Spirit in Salvation

John 3:5 – “No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

Titus 3:5 – “He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”

3. The Holy Spirit in Sanctification

Romans 8:9 – “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 – “We are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
